Walnut Village was borne from dreams – lots of them. Before we even put pencil to paper we asked future residents exactly what lifestyles and experiences they were seeking. Then we crafted a vision that led to our award-winning village design.

Residents were searching for a strong sense of connection with each other, their neighborhood and the greater community beyond. So we studied how people traditionally gathered together in places like small-town America, and European Old World villages.

One of those traditions was the “village square,” shop-lined open spaces where merchants, artists and people of all walks engaged in the work and play of everyday living. And that’s exactly what you’ll find at the heart of our village complete with a neighborhood pub, post office, salon, sidewalk bistro & sundry shop, working artist studio and more.

And residents asking for opportunities for growth, discovery and the continuation of lifelong pursuits inspired us to create our three unique lifestyle centers: Lifelong Learning; Wellbeing, Fitness & Aquatics; and the Chapel and Performing Arts Center.

In late 2009, Walnut Village opened its doors to its residents, and to a brand new concept in retirement living. Our story of realizing dreams is just beginning…
